We hold the Sant agency directly. The Sant globe valve range runs to 38 families, 8 mm to 300 mm, in 6 body materials.

A globe valve range frequently offers the same body with a choice of trim — a plain metal disc, a stainless-fitted seat, or a Teflon disc — and the choice is a service-life decision as much as a price one. On steam or repeated-cycling duty the cheaper metal-to-metal trim is the one that needs re-facing first.

The Sant range here is supplied in gunmetal to IS 318 LTB-2 for potable and general water service, carbon steel WCB for steam and higher pressures, bronze for water and low-pressure steam and cast iron to IS 210 for larger bores on water duty, and 2 more. Getting the material right is the part of the specification that cannot be corrected on site. The medium and the working temperature settle it; the size does not enter into it.

Sizes span 8–25 mm, 32–50 mm, 65–100 mm, 125–200 mm and 250–300 mm. Across that range the construction changes more than once, so a size at the top of the range and one at the bottom are related products rather than the same product in two sizes.

You can have Flanged, Screwed BSP (parallel) and Socket weld ends on this range. Matching the connection to what is already installed is the difference between a valve that is fitted in an afternoon and one that waits for a fabricator.

Available classes are PN 16, PN 25, PN 20 and PN 40. A class is what the body is tested to; the working pressure it may be held at falls as the temperature rises, which is what the manufacturer's chart is for.

Test certificates are available against the order where the product carries them. It is worth confirming the requirement before the order is placed rather than at delivery.

Send the medium and the working temperature, which decide bonnet and trim with the schedule when you enquire about globe valves. Sizes and quantities alone leave the one question open that decides which valve is actually correct.
