About the Sant Y-strainers range

We hold the Sant agency directly. The Sant Y-strainer range runs to 23 families, 15 mm to 600 mm, in 6 body materials.

Some strainers in a range come with an isolation valve built into the body rather than fitted separately, and that is worth more than it looks on a drawing — the screen can be pulled for cleaning without shutting down the branch it sits on, only the line feeding it.

The Sant range here is supplied in cast iron to IS 210 for larger bores on water duty, CF8 stainless where the medium attacks a copper alloy, carbon steel WCB for steam and higher pressures and forged brass on small-bore service lines, and 2 more. Material is decided by the medium and the temperature before it is decided by price: a body that suits cold water will not necessarily suit the same line carrying steam.

Sizes run across 15–25 mm, 32–50 mm, 65–100 mm, 125–200 mm and 250–600 mm. Construction usually changes with the size rather than continuing unbroken: small bores are screwed and made in a copper alloy, while the larger end of the range is flanged and cast.

You can have Flanged, Screwed BSP (parallel) and Socket weld ends on this range. Matching the connection to what is already installed is the difference between a valve that is fitted in an afternoon and one that waits for a fabricator.

Ratings in this range are PN 16, PN 10 and PN 25. Specifying a class above the duty costs money and weight for nothing; specifying below it is the failure that is found the hard way.

Where an inspection certificate or an IBR form is required, say so with the enquiry — it is arranged with the manufacturer at order stage and cannot be added to a valve already despatched.

Send the perforation or mesh required, and what the screen is protecting with the schedule when you enquire about Y-strainers. Sizes and quantities alone leave the one question open that decides which valve is actually correct.

Prices shown are Sant's list prices, exclusive of GST. Supplies within Uttar Pradesh carry CGST and SGST; supplies to other states carry IGST.
