About the Sant gate valves range

Concept Engineers is an authorised Sant distributor. This page lists every Sant gate valve we carry — 23 families covering 8 mm to 300 mm, in 4 body materials.

Gate valves earn their place on isolation duty, where an open valve should cost as close to nothing in pressure drop as a length of pipe. Across a range the variables are the wedge, the stem and the bonnet: solid wedges for general water service, flexible wedges where a line runs hot and the seat faces move.

The Sant range here is supplied in gunmetal to IS 318 LTB-2 for potable and general water service, carbon steel WCB for steam and higher pressures, ductile iron to IS 1865 where the line sees shock, vibration or a buried, long-service duty and CF8 stainless where the medium attacks a copper alloy. The medium chooses the material. Cost only breaks a tie between two bodies that both suit the duty, and a body that fails on temperature is not cheaper for having cost less.

Bores available are 8–25 mm, 32–50 mm, 65–100 mm, 125–200 mm and 250–300 mm. Above roughly 50 mm the pattern shifts to flanged cast bodies, and flange drilling, weight and lifting become part of the order rather than an afterthought.

You can have Flanged, Screwed BSP (parallel) and Socket weld ends on this range. Matching the connection to what is already installed is the difference between a valve that is fitted in an afternoon and one that waits for a fabricator.

Available classes are PN 20 and PN 16. A class is what the body is tested to; the working pressure it may be held at falls as the temperature rises, which is what the manufacturer's chart is for.

Works test certificates and material certificates can be supplied with the consignment where the standard calls for them, but they have to be asked for at the time of order rather than afterwards.

When you send an enquiry for gate valves, include the flange standard the mating pipework is drilled to alongside the sizes and quantities. It is the detail that most often has to be chased before a quotation can be priced, and supplying it up front saves a round trip.
