A sluice valve range priced across cast iron and ductile iron bodies is really pricing two service lives, not two grades of the same thing — ductile iron tolerates ground movement and pressure surge that would crack a grey iron casting outright, which is what the difference is actually paying for underground.

The Leader range here is supplied in cast iron to IS 210 for larger bores on water duty. What the line carries, and how hot it runs, decide the body. Those two facts narrow the choice before bore, class or budget are considered at all.

Bores available are 50 mm, 65–100 mm, 125–200 mm and 250–600 mm. Above roughly 50 mm the pattern shifts to flanged cast bodies, and flange drilling, weight and lifting become part of the order rather than an afterthought.

The range is rated PN 10, PN 16 and PN 20. Class is chosen against the duty, including any surge the line sees, rather than against the nominal system pressure alone.

Construction is to IS 14846. That is the reference to quote if the valve has to be approved by a consultant before the order is released.

Works test certificates and material certificates can be supplied with the consignment where the standard calls for them, but they have to be asked for at the time of order rather than afterwards.

When you send an enquiry for sluice valves, include whether the valve is buried or in a chamber, and the stem arrangement wanted alongside the sizes and quantities. It is the detail that most often has to be chased before a quotation can be priced, and supplying it up front saves a round trip.
