About the Leader air vents range

Screwed and flanged air vents in the same range aren't interchangeable on pressure alone — the flanged bodies in a range typically carry a different, usually lower, pressure rating than the screwed ones, so matching the connection type without checking the rating behind it is the mistake worth avoiding.

The Leader range here is supplied in cast iron to IS 210 for larger bores on water duty, carbon steel WCB for steam and higher pressures and forged brass on small-bore service lines. What the line carries, and how hot it runs, decide the body. Those two facts narrow the choice before bore, class or budget are considered at all.

The range covers 15–25 mm, 32–50 mm, 65–100 mm and 150–200 mm. That span is not one design scaled up — the small end is screwed copper alloy, the large end is flanged and cast, and the break between them is where weight and handling start to matter.

End connections run to Flanged, Screwed BSPT (taper) and Screwed BSP (parallel). The connection has to be settled against the mating pipework before a size is ordered — a flanged valve and a screwed one are not interchangeable on an installed line.

Ratings in this range are PN 16, PN 10, Class 150 and Class 300. Specifying a class above the duty costs money and weight for nothing; specifying below it is the failure that is found the hard way.

Construction is to IS 14845. That is the reference to quote if the valve has to be approved by a consultant before the order is released.

Where an inspection certificate or an IBR form is required, say so with the enquiry — it is arranged with the manufacturer at order stage and cannot be added to a valve already despatched.

An enquiry for air vents is quickest to price when it states the medium, the working pressure and the temperature as well as the sizes and quantities. Without it we have to come back and ask, which adds a day to the quotation for no reason.
