A double regulating balancing valve earns its name from doing two jobs a plain gate valve can't: it isolates the branch completely when shut, and it holds a repeatable, readable flow setting when open. The pressure test cocks either side of the body are what make that setting verifiable on site rather than trusted from a handwheel scale alone.

The Leader range here is supplied in carbon steel WCB for steam and higher pressures and forged brass on small-bore service lines. The medium chooses the material. Cost only breaks a tie between two bodies that both suit the duty, and a body that fails on temperature is not cheaper for having cost less.

The range covers 20–25 mm, 32–50 mm, 65–100 mm, 125–200 mm and 250–600 mm. That span is not one design scaled up — the small end is screwed copper alloy, the large end is flanged and cast, and the break between them is where weight and handling start to matter.

The range is supplied with Flanged and Screwed BSP (parallel) ends. Which one is right is a question about the line, not about the valve, and it is the detail most often left off an enquiry.

The range is rated PN 16 and PN 20. Class is chosen against the duty, including any surge the line sees, rather than against the nominal system pressure alone.

Test certificates are available against the order where the product carries them. It is worth confirming the requirement before the order is placed rather than at delivery.
