About the Leader pressure reducing valves range
We hold the Leader agency directly. The Leader pressure reducing valve range runs to 8 families, 10 mm to 300 mm, in 5 body materials.
Spring-loaded diaphragm and piston types answer different duties within the same range — a diaphragm type responds faster to a sudden draw-off, while a piston type is the steadier choice on a line with a wide swing in demand. Neither is a drop-in substitute for the other on a fussy application.
The Leader range here is supplied in bronze for water and low-pressure steam, forged brass on small-bore service lines and carbon steel WCB for steam and higher pressures. Getting the material right is the part of the specification that cannot be corrected on site. The medium and the working temperature settle it; the size does not enter into it.
Bores available are 10–25 mm, 32–50 mm, 65–100 mm, 125–200 mm and 250–300 mm. Above roughly 50 mm the pattern shifts to flanged cast bodies, and flange drilling, weight and lifting become part of the order rather than an afterthought.
You can have Screwed BSP (parallel) and Flanged ends on this range. Matching the connection to what is already installed is the difference between a valve that is fitted in an afternoon and one that waits for a fabricator.
Ratings in this range are PN 16 and PN 20. Specifying a class above the duty costs money and weight for nothing; specifying below it is the failure that is found the hard way.
Products in this range are built to BS 10 Table J and BS 10 Table H. The standard is what a consultant writes into a specification, so it is worth quoting it on the enquiry.
Where an inspection certificate or an IBR form is required, say so with the enquiry — it is arranged with the manufacturer at order stage and cannot be added to a valve already despatched.
Send the inlet and outlet pressures and the flow range, including the lowest flow with the schedule when you enquire about pressure reducing valves. Sizes and quantities alone leave the one question open that decides which valve is actually correct.
