About the Kartar check valves range

This is the full Kartar check valve range we are authorised to supply — 12 families, 40 mm to 600 mm, across 3 body materials.

What decides a check valve is not the bore but the moment the pump stops: a swing pattern closes slowly enough to be quiet on a short, low-lift line, while a spring-loaded disc or dual-plate design closes fast enough to stop the column reversing on a long rising main before it slams.

The Kartar range here is supplied in ductile iron to IS 1865 where the line sees shock, vibration or a buried, long-service duty, cast iron to IS 210 for larger bores on water duty and CF8 stainless where the medium attacks a copper alloy. The medium chooses the material. Cost only breaks a tie between two bodies that both suit the duty, and a body that fails on temperature is not cheaper for having cost less.

Bores available are 40–50 mm, 65–100 mm, 125–200 mm and 250–600 mm. Above roughly 50 mm the pattern shifts to flanged cast bodies, and flange drilling, weight and lifting become part of the order rather than an afterthought.

Ends available are Wafer and Flanged. This is worth confirming against the pipework drawing rather than assumed: changing a valve's end connection after delivery means changing the pipework.

Pressure classes cover PN 16 and PN 10. The class is a rating on the body, not a statement about the line: a valve is selected on the pressure and temperature it will actually see in service.

Construction is to IS 5312. That is the reference to quote if the valve has to be approved by a consultant before the order is released.

Works test certificates and material certificates can be supplied with the consignment where the standard calls for them, but they have to be asked for at the time of order rather than afterwards.

Send the line's orientation and whether the pump can reverse against a static head with the schedule when you enquire about check valves. Sizes and quantities alone leave the one question open that decides which valve is actually correct.

Every price here is the current list price before GST. Send a schedule and we will price it against your quantities.
