About the Kartar butterfly valves range

We hold the Kartar agency directly. The Kartar butterfly valve range runs to 8 families, 25 mm to 600 mm, in 2 body materials.

A resilient-seated butterfly valve and a metal-seated one are not simply cheap and expensive versions of the same product — the elastomer liner that gives the resilient-seated valve its bubble-tight shutoff is also its temperature ceiling, and a metal seat is what a range switches to once the medium runs hotter than that liner can take.

The Kartar range here is supplied in cast iron to IS 210 for larger bores on water duty and CF8 stainless where the medium attacks a copper alloy. What the line carries, and how hot it runs, decide the body. Those two facts narrow the choice before bore, class or budget are considered at all.

The range covers 25 mm, 40–50 mm, 65–100 mm, 125–200 mm and 250–600 mm. That span is not one design scaled up — the small end is screwed copper alloy, the large end is flanged and cast, and the break between them is where weight and handling start to matter.

Available classes are PN 10 and PN 16. A class is what the body is tested to; the working pressure it may be held at falls as the temperature rises, which is what the manufacturer's chart is for.

The applicable standards here are IS 13095. A specification that names one is asking for a specific construction, not a general quality level.

Where an inspection certificate or an IBR form is required, say so with the enquiry — it is arranged with the manufacturer at order stage and cannot be added to a valve already despatched.

Send the medium and temperature, which decide the seat liner, and the size at which you want a gear operator rather than a lever with the schedule when you enquire about butterfly valves. Sizes and quantities alone leave the one question open that decides which valve is actually correct.
