About the Veeson Y-strainers range

We hold the Veeson agency directly. The Veeson Y-strainer range runs to 5 families, 15 mm to 300 mm, in 2 body materials.

Y-strainers are sized on the line but selected on the screen. Pump and control-valve protection ask for different perforations, and the pressure drop across a clean screen is only the start — the number that matters is the drop the system can still tolerate when the screen is half loaded.

The Veeson range here is supplied in cast iron to IS 210 for larger bores on water duty and carbon steel WCB for steam and higher pressures. Material is decided by the medium and the temperature before it is decided by price: a body that suits cold water will not necessarily suit the same line carrying steam.

Sizes span 15–25 mm, 32–50 mm, 65–100 mm, 125–200 mm and 250–300 mm. Across that range the construction changes more than once, so a size at the top of the range and one at the bottom are related products rather than the same product in two sizes.

Ends available are Flanged and Screwed BSP (parallel). This is worth confirming against the pipework drawing rather than assumed: changing a valve's end connection after delivery means changing the pipework.

The applicable standards here are BS 10 Table E. A specification that names one is asking for a specific construction, not a general quality level.

Where an inspection certificate or an IBR form is required, say so with the enquiry — it is arranged with the manufacturer at order stage and cannot be added to a valve already despatched.

To quote Y-strainers properly we need the perforation or mesh required, and what the screen is protecting in addition to sizes and quantities. Everything else on the enquiry can be inferred; that cannot.
