A sluice valve range is chosen on stem type before anything else. A non-rising stem keeps the same overall height open or shut, which is what a buried or chambered installation needs; a rising stem trades that headroom for a position that can be read from above ground without lifting a cover.
The Veeson range here is supplied in cast iron to IS 210 for larger bores on water duty. The medium chooses the material. Cost only breaks a tie between two bodies that both suit the duty, and a body that fails on temperature is not cheaper for having cost less.
The range covers 50 mm, 65–100 mm, 125–200 mm and 250–300 mm. That span is not one design scaled up — the small end is screwed copper alloy, the large end is flanged and cast, and the break between them is where weight and handling start to matter.
This range is manufactured to IS 14846. Where a tender names a standard, quoting it back on the enquiry is what stops an approved substitution being queried later.
Test certificates are available against the order where the product carries them. It is worth confirming the requirement before the order is placed rather than at delivery.
To quote sluice valves properly we need whether the valve is buried or in a chamber, and the stem arrangement wanted in addition to sizes and quantities. Everything else on the enquiry can be inferred; that cannot.
