Every L&T butterfly valve we supply is listed on this page: 9 families spanning 50 mm to 600 mm, in 4 body materials.

Butterfly valves are the practical answer above about 100 mm, where a gate or a globe becomes heavy and expensive. Across a range the decisions are the seat liner against the medium and temperature, and the operator: a lever is fine to roughly 150 mm, above which a gear box is what makes the valve usable by one person.

The L&T range here is supplied in CF8 stainless where the medium attacks a copper alloy, ductile iron to IS 1865 where the line sees shock, vibration or a buried, long-service duty, CF8M stainless for chlorides and process chemicals and cast iron to IS 210 for larger bores on water duty. What the line carries, and how hot it runs, decide the body. Those two facts narrow the choice before bore, class or budget are considered at all.

Sizes run across 50 mm, 65–100 mm, 125–200 mm and 250–600 mm. Construction usually changes with the size rather than continuing unbroken: small bores are screwed and made in a copper alloy, while the larger end of the range is flanged and cast.

Available classes are PN 16 and PN 10. A class is what the body is tested to; the working pressure it may be held at falls as the temperature rises, which is what the manufacturer's chart is for.

Test certificates are available against the order where the product carries them. It is worth confirming the requirement before the order is placed rather than at delivery.

An enquiry for butterfly valves is quickest to price when it states the medium and temperature, which decide the seat liner, and the size at which you want a gear operator rather than a lever as well as the sizes and quantities. Without it we have to come back and ask, which adds a day to the quotation for no reason.
