About the L&T ball valves range

We hold the L&T agency directly. The L&T ball valve range runs to 16 families, 15 mm to 150 mm, in 3 body materials.

Ball valves in bronze and ball valves in brass are not interchangeable on a specification that only says 'ball valve, screwed' — bronze holds up better against water with any mineral content, while brass is the lighter, cheaper choice for a line running clean, treated water. The difference rarely shows on a data sheet unless it is asked for.

The L&T range here is supplied in carbon steel WCB for steam and higher pressures, CF8M stainless for chlorides and process chemicals and forged carbon steel A105 on small-bore high-pressure lines. Getting the material right is the part of the specification that cannot be corrected on site. The medium and the working temperature settle it; the size does not enter into it.

Sizes run across 15–25 mm, 32–50 mm, 65–100 mm and 125–150 mm. Construction usually changes with the size rather than continuing unbroken: small bores are screwed and made in a copper alloy, while the larger end of the range is flanged and cast.

End connections run to Flanged and Screwed BSP (parallel). The connection has to be settled against the mating pipework before a size is ordered — a flanged valve and a screwed one are not interchangeable on an installed line.

Ratings in this range are Class 300 and Class 150. Specifying a class above the duty costs money and weight for nothing; specifying below it is the failure that is found the hard way.

Where an inspection certificate or an IBR form is required, say so with the enquiry — it is arranged with the manufacturer at order stage and cannot be added to a valve already despatched.

Send whether the duty needs a full bore or tolerates a reduced one with the schedule when you enquire about ball valves. Sizes and quantities alone leave the one question open that decides which valve is actually correct.
