About the L&T gate valves range

We hold the L&T agency directly. The L&T gate valve range runs to 3 families, 15 mm to 600 mm, in 2 body materials.

Two gate valves at the same bore in the same range are not always the same pressure class, and the class only shows up as a price difference unless it is asked for directly. Ordering on bore alone risks a valve rated for a duty lighter than the line it is going onto.

The L&T range here is supplied in carbon steel WCB for steam and higher pressures and forged carbon steel A105 on small-bore high-pressure lines. What the line carries, and how hot it runs, decide the body. Those two facts narrow the choice before bore, class or budget are considered at all.

The range covers 15–25 mm, 40–50 mm, 80–100 mm, 150–200 mm and 250–600 mm. That span is not one design scaled up — the small end is screwed copper alloy, the large end is flanged and cast, and the break between them is where weight and handling start to matter.

The range is supplied with Flanged and Screwed BSP (parallel) ends. Which one is right is a question about the line, not about the valve, and it is the detail most often left off an enquiry.

Pressure classes cover Class 150, Class 300 and Class 800. The class is a rating on the body, not a statement about the line: a valve is selected on the pressure and temperature it will actually see in service.

Works test certificates and material certificates can be supplied with the consignment where the standard calls for them, but they have to be asked for at the time of order rather than afterwards.

Send the flange standard the mating pipework is drilled to with the schedule when you enquire about gate valves. Sizes and quantities alone leave the one question open that decides which valve is actually correct.
