About the L&T globe valves range

This is the full L&T globe valve range we are authorised to supply — 5 families, 15 mm to 500 mm, across 2 body materials.

Globe valves are specified where flow has to be set and held rather than simply stopped. Across a range the decisions are bonnet type, stem arrangement and trim: a screwed bonnet is quicker and cheaper, a bolted bonnet can be reseated in place, and a rising stem shows the valve's position from across a plant room.

The L&T range here is supplied in carbon steel WCB for steam and higher pressures and forged carbon steel A105 on small-bore high-pressure lines. Material is decided by the medium and the temperature before it is decided by price: a body that suits cold water will not necessarily suit the same line carrying steam.

The range covers 15–25 mm, 40–50 mm, 80–100 mm, 150–200 mm and 250–500 mm. That span is not one design scaled up — the small end is screwed copper alloy, the large end is flanged and cast, and the break between them is where weight and handling start to matter.

The range is supplied with Flanged, Socket weld and Screwed BSP (parallel) ends. Which one is right is a question about the line, not about the valve, and it is the detail most often left off an enquiry.

Pressure classes cover Class 150, Class 300, Class 800 and Class 1500. The class is a rating on the body, not a statement about the line: a valve is selected on the pressure and temperature it will actually see in service.

Test certificates are available against the order where the product carries them. It is worth confirming the requirement before the order is placed rather than at delivery.

To quote globe valves properly we need the medium and the working temperature, which decide bonnet and trim in addition to sizes and quantities. Everything else on the enquiry can be inferred; that cannot.
