L&T’s butterfly Valve, CI Body/CF8M Disc, EPDM Liner, Gear Operated, PN-16 is supplied in 50 mm to 600 mm at PN 16. Butterfly valves become the economical choice as bore increases: the disc rotates within the body rather than lifting clear of it, so the valve stays short and light where a gate valve would be neither. Gear operation keeps the effort manageable at the larger bores, where a lever would need more force than one person can apply. CF8M (SS 316) carries molybdenum, giving markedly better resistance to chlorides and pitting than SS 304 — why it is specified for coastal, effluent and chemical service. The wafer body clamps between two pipe flanges, keeping face-to-face length and weight to a minimum.
