About the Castle butterfly valves range

This is the full Castle butterfly valve range we are authorised to supply — 12 families, 32 mm to 600 mm, across 2 body materials.

A concentric (centre-line) disc and a double-eccentric disc solve sealing differently even within the same body style — a concentric design relies on the liner's own elastic memory to reseal on every stroke, which limits it to a moderate pressure and a shorter liner life, while a double-eccentric disc lifts the seat clear of the body on opening and closing, trading a simpler liner for a design rated to a higher class and a longer service life.

The Castle range here is supplied in cast iron to IS 210 for larger bores on water duty and ductile iron to IS 1865 where the line sees shock, vibration or a buried, long-service duty. The medium chooses the material. Cost only breaks a tie between two bodies that both suit the duty, and a body that fails on temperature is not cheaper for having cost less.

Sizes run across 32–50 mm, 65–100 mm, 125–200 mm and 250–600 mm. Construction usually changes with the size rather than continuing unbroken: small bores are screwed and made in a copper alloy, while the larger end of the range is flanged and cast.

Pressure classes cover PN 10, PN 16 and PN 20. The class is a rating on the body, not a statement about the line: a valve is selected on the pressure and temperature it will actually see in service.

Products in this range are built to IS 13095. The standard is what a consultant writes into a specification, so it is worth quoting it on the enquiry.

Test certificates are available against the order where the product carries them. It is worth confirming the requirement before the order is placed rather than at delivery.

When you send an enquiry for butterfly valves, include the medium and temperature, which decide the seat liner, and the size at which you want a gear operator rather than a lever alongside the sizes and quantities. It is the detail that most often has to be chased before a quotation can be priced, and supplying it up front saves a round trip.

Prices are ex-GST list. Where a size is not shown, ask — the range extends beyond what is held as standard.
