Balancing valves are what make a distributed circuit deliver its design flow at every branch rather than only at the one nearest the pump. They are selected on the flow to be set and the authority required, and the test points are as much a part of the selection as the body.
The Castle range here is supplied in forged brass on small-bore service lines, cast iron to IS 210 for larger bores on water duty and ductile iron to IS 1865 where the line sees shock, vibration or a buried, long-service duty. What the line carries, and how hot it runs, decide the body. Those two facts narrow the choice before bore, class or budget are considered at all.
Sizes run across 15–25 mm, 32–50 mm, 65–100 mm, 125–200 mm and 250–400 mm. Construction usually changes with the size rather than continuing unbroken: small bores are screwed and made in a copper alloy, while the larger end of the range is flanged and cast.
You can have Flanged and Screwed BSP (parallel) ends on this range. Matching the connection to what is already installed is the difference between a valve that is fitted in an afternoon and one that waits for a fabricator.
Available classes are 16 kg/cm² and 20 kg/cm². A class is what the body is tested to; the working pressure it may be held at falls as the temperature rises, which is what the manufacturer's chart is for.
Where an inspection certificate or an IBR form is required, say so with the enquiry — it is arranged with the manufacturer at order stage and cannot be added to a valve already despatched.
