About the Castle check valves range

We hold the Castle agency directly. The Castle check valve range runs to 8 families, 15 mm to 600 mm, in 4 body materials.

A lift check valve only seats correctly with flow entering from underneath the disc — fit one on a line running the wrong way and it either never opens under normal pressure or never closes at all. Worth checking the flow arrow against the actual pipe run, not just the bore.

The Castle range here is supplied in cast iron to IS 210 for larger bores on water duty, CF8 stainless where the medium attacks a copper alloy, ductile iron to IS 1865 where the line sees shock, vibration or a buried, long-service duty and forged brass on small-bore service lines. What the line carries, and how hot it runs, decide the body. Those two facts narrow the choice before bore, class or budget are considered at all.

Sizes span 15–25 mm, 32–50 mm, 65–100 mm, 125–200 mm and 250–600 mm. Across that range the construction changes more than once, so a size at the top of the range and one at the bottom are related products rather than the same product in two sizes.

The range is supplied with Wafer and Screwed BSP (parallel) ends. Which one is right is a question about the line, not about the valve, and it is the detail most often left off an enquiry.

Available classes are PN 16 and PN 20. A class is what the body is tested to; the working pressure it may be held at falls as the temperature rises, which is what the manufacturer's chart is for.

Works test certificates and material certificates can be supplied with the consignment where the standard calls for them, but they have to be asked for at the time of order rather than afterwards.

An enquiry for check valves is quickest to price when it states the line's orientation and whether the pump can reverse against a static head as well as the sizes and quantities. Without it we have to come back and ask, which adds a day to the quotation for no reason.
