About the Honeywell balancing valves range

Balancing valves split into two families that solve the same problem differently. A handwheel type is set once at commissioning and left alone, read off a flow chart against the number of turns open; a fully automatic or pressure-independent type holds its flow setting as the rest of the system changes, at a higher first cost that a simple system rarely needs.
The Honeywell range here is supplied in cast iron to IS 210 for larger bores on water duty and ductile iron to IS 1865 where the line sees shock, vibration or a buried, long-service duty. Material is decided by the medium and the temperature before it is decided by price: a body that suits cold water will not necessarily suit the same line carrying steam.
Sizes span 15–25 mm, 32–50 mm, 65–100 mm and 125 mm. Across that range the construction changes more than once, so a size at the top of the range and one at the bottom are related products rather than the same product in two sizes.
Ratings in this range are PN 16 and PN 25. Specifying a class above the duty costs money and weight for nothing; specifying below it is the failure that is found the hard way.
Works test certificates and material certificates can be supplied with the consignment where the standard calls for them, but they have to be asked for at the time of order rather than afterwards.
To quote balancing valves properly we need the design flow to be set at each branch in addition to sizes and quantities. Everything else on the enquiry can be inferred; that cannot.
