A shut-off valve, not a control valve — throttling duty belongs to a globe pattern. The rising stem shows the valve’s position at a glance, which is worth having on a valve that is operated rarely and needs to be verified shut — allow headroom above it. WCB carbon steel construction, rated for the steam and thermal-oil duties that rule out lighter body materials.
