Kartar C.I. Sluice Valve (Rising Stem, PN 16), available 50 mm to 600 mm at PN 16. Sluice valves handle bulk water isolation at the bore sizes where gate valves in smaller patterns stop being practical — pumping mains, treatment plant headers and distribution networks. The rising stem shows the valve’s position at a glance, which is worth having on a valve that is operated rarely and needs to be verified shut — allow headroom above it. The IS 210 cast iron body is the economical choice at larger bores. It suits steady water service but not lines that see mechanical shock. Flanged connections allow the valve to come out for overhaul with the pipework left in place. The table above gives the price for each size in the range.
