Description
Kartar D.I. Sluice Valve (Non-Rising Stem, PN 16), available 50 mm to 1000 mm at PN 16. Sluice valves handle bulk water isolation at the bore sizes where gate valves in smaller patterns stop being practical — pumping mains, treatment plant headers and distribution networks. The non-rising stem keeps the overall height fixed, which matters in a congested pipe rack or a valve pit where there is no room for a stem to travel. Ductile iron carries considerably more strength and impact resistance than grey cast iron for the same section — the reason it is specified for buried and higher-pressure mains. Flanged ends make the valve straightforward to remove for servicing without cutting pipe, and are the norm once bore and weight rule out threaded joints. The table above gives the price for each size in the range.
