Pressure reducing valves hold a set downstream pressure regardless of what the upstream line is doing, protecting equipment rated below main pressure and steadying supply to a distribution system. The LTB-2 gunmetal body to IS 318 resists dezincification, which is why gunmetal remains the default for potable water rather than a cheaper brass. Parallel BSP threads — the usual small-bore connection, and quick to replace in service. Common where a mains or boiler pressure has to be stepped down for distribution.
