Leader gate Valve, BS EN 1171 (Bolted Bonnet, O/S & Yoke, Rising Stem), available 40 mm to 600 mm at Class 125. The straight-through bore means an open gate valve behaves much like a length of pipe. A rising stem gives visual confirmation of position without touching the handwheel, at the cost of clearance above the valve. The IS 210 cast iron body is the economical choice at larger bores. It suits steady water service but not lines that see mechanical shock. Flanged connections allow the valve to come out for overhaul with the pipework left in place.
